April 2024 Board Report

North Coast Co-op

by Laura Jones, Board Director

The Co-op Board of Directors met by Zoom on April 4, 2024.

At the April Board meeting, during the first Member Comment period, several members made suggestions and shared ideas. All Co-op members are encouraged to attend Board meetings and volunteer to sit on its committees.

In early April the Co-op had a visit from National Cooperative Grocers (NCG) Association representatives. Our General Manager, Sean Nolan, gave the reps a tour of the Eureka and Arcata stores. The repairs, improvements, exterior paint jobs, Arcata's new parking lot … the generator - the stores' overall look received very good marks.

The Board had the opportunity to meet with the NCG folks. One of the things we discussed was member involvement. Inspired by our discussions, our Co-op's Member Action Committee will be restarting with Worker Board Reps Ellis and Mimi, along with other board members and. Most importantly, our cooperative members will be leading the way for Diversity Equity Inclusion (DEI), with members' input, guidance, and suggestions. The board's Member Action Committee is looking for Co-op members to sit on the committee.
